Živogošće is a small harbour village at the Makarska Riviera, 20 km south-east of Makarska.
The village had been first metioned already in 1434.
There is even an epigram scratched into stone from the Roman time, which praises the gift donating earth and is dedicated to the spring originating here. The Franciscan monastery with attached church was built in the 18th century.
Živogošće is situated beneath Biokovo and has several beautiful pebbel beaches.
It has preserved its charm and mostly has been untroubled by mass tourism.
Nevertheless, Živogošće offers a lot of leisure activities, such as jet ski, paragliding, diving, boat trips, etc.
The nearby village Igrane, which can easily be reached by foot, in addition offers several good restaurants with local cuisine.
